If I were you I'd switch to 10w30 Mike. Any time you get an engine with that kind of mileage a heavier oil will help prevent the leaks.
I think the dude was referring to swapping to 5w30 synthetic after having used 10w40 regular. That would be a huge difference in thickness.

That is what I was thinking. I have been running 5w-30 for a long time now and wasn't sure about going to 10W-30 or not. I know the 30 means it will be the same viscosity when hot be it the 5W-30 or 10w-30. When it cools down it will then be thicker 10 weight instead of 5 weight.

I'm going to see if my work on the gaskets slows things up enough that the leaking is not too much now. If it doesn't, I'll give the 10W- a shot next change.
