I recently picked up an 86 accord lx. I knew it had some problems, but it was only 70 bucks. When i drained the oil, i drained out nearly 10 quarts. I dont think it was all oil though. What could be getting in my oil.

 

Wow 10 qts sounds way too much,,,, if someone did not overfill it with oil ,, it could be coolant,,,could also be gasoline if carb is flooding over,, but 10 qts ???

 

I agree. It's got to be coolant judging by the quantity. Warped head, cracked block, blown head gasket.........?

 

now you gotta look into the oil and see what else is in there, because oil and just about anything else, doesnt mix very well, so if you see green liquid separating from the oil, you know that it is coolant, which it most likely is, and the problem with the highest probability would be the head gasket, which is very easy to replace. what model is your accord, is it an lx-i?

do you have blue smoke coming out of your tailpipe? if you do then it's fuel. in that case you need to take apart the block and replace the piston rings. this is also known as a blowby.

 

i believe you meant to say it is oil that burns blue.
