square hole in tranny on 91 accord engine?

Smile square hole in tranny on 91 accord engine?

can anybody tell me if this is supposed to be here? or if it can do damage to my car?

its an auto btw

I believe that is for timing the engine, as the older F sreies engines were flywheel timed rather than crank pulley. Not sure if there is supposed to be a rubber grommet in it though.

Hopefully that's the flywheel you're looking at. I think the angle just makes it look like a hole in the BLOCK!?!?

Back in 1991 the spark-timing marks are on the flywheel not on the front pulley.

There's probably supposed to be a rubber plug, but when my daughter bought an old 1992, the plug was missing.

Its a ~$4 part at the dealership.
