Default Stalling/revving problem

I have a 2dr 1990 honda accord ex automatic and when I'm driving at low or high speeds I hear a loud sounds as if its stalling or over revving before it switch gears. When it switches gears I feel small small push and the speed increases a bit. If does this on every gear but drives ok. My alternator went out a few days ago and a new one is getting installed today and my steering wheel gets very hard to turn when I slow down. Can anyone help me

Welcome to HAF.

Check the trans fluid, if not sure - do at least one drain and fill. Is the throttle control cable from the TB to trans adjusted properly?

PS - Honda's are picky when it comes to what fluid to use.....only use Honda/Acura approved fluid. Be sure the belt has the proper tension.

with the steering problem check the power steering belt and also make sure the power steering pump is functional. the pumps usually go bad when the correct fluid s not used or the pump runs dry.
