Default Steering rack replacement

So i did a quick search and i found topics covering the steering rack, but they didnt cover my question, and that is...
How long should it take for the dealership to replace it? They've had it since 8am 8/23/07, they've been working on it since 2pm 8/23/07. It's now 12:30pm 8/24/07, ive called several times today and yesterday and they have no idea how much longer its going to take. Also yesterday they told me it would be finished that night (the shop closes at 8pm). Now they told me it would be finished sometime this afternoon. So whats really the deal?

it should take about 3- 4 hrs , than it needs to be aligned ,, but keep in mind that a tech might not work on your car continousely, he might go back and forth from your car to another ,, also it depends on wich tech works on it,, a novice? experienced? a tech that takes cigarette brakes every 30 minutes ? But if a tech stays on the job , should have the whole thing done by 5-6 hrs including alignment ..

Just an update, they called me to tell me that my car was ready at 2pm 8/24/07. I think that 24hrs is a little too long to work on something like this. But whatever ill have my car back by 5pm and thats all that matters, and its covered by extended warentee (i never know how to spell that word). Anyway, have a good one folks.

why did it need a rack?? how many miles in your car ?? do you have a deductable on the extended warranty ? if less than 3 yrs , 36k miles honda should have fixed it free of charge , assuming you did not damage it ,,

and time wise it did not really take them 24 hrs ,, they work from 7-8 to 5-5;30 ?? ........if a tech stays on it it takes about 5-6 including an alignment but like i said before they go from car to cars .. sometimes customer come in for a small job (o/f, brakes, minor service etc etc ..) and they are waiting , shop need to finish the waiters first .
when we replace p/s rack i tell my customer that it will take at least the whole day to a day and 1/2 ..

I didnt pay for a single thing, this is the only time the extended warentee has come in handy. Well this, and that time i need a tail light bulb replaced. The rack was leaking, it wasnt bad, it would go about a month or so before i would even begin to notice it whining. And the guy said it would be covered by warentee so i said F-it lets replace it. And i know it takes a while to do something like that, i was just ragging because i didnt have my baby and i had to bum a ride to work from my mother and her crappy car. and i had to take her POS on a date with this super hot chic
