Default Sterling in USA

I believe this was a 1990s 'clone' of the Honda Legend with slightly more 'British' styling and interior. It was sold as the flagship of the Rover 800 series in the UK.

The Rover/Sterling had a more luxurious interior and extra toys, but the Legend was considered the more reliable version.

Did the Sterling sell many units over there?

35,794 sold between 1987-1992.

I personally have never seen one.

They were lovely cars to sit in; you just had to use your imagination about them actually moving.

Sounds about right. At least when you broke down. You broke down in comfort and style! 2nd hand values for these luxury but temperamental cars were shockingly low.

Is this a good place for the joke about why the Brits drink warm beer??

Actually I remember the Sterling cars. I only ever saw a couple of them on the road. And I didn't think they were really Legends, they were maybe a little smaller or something.

(... warm beer? they have Lucas refrigerators)

had a customer years ago that had one. has the acura motor in it, that was the only good thing about it. also had the hood release on the passenger side...the one thing they didn't switch when they were imported to the states.

Hmmm, I guess Chicago must have been where most of those 34,794 Sterlings were sold because I used to see them all of the time back in the day.
