Default Swapping v-tec into 95 Accord

I know this has been asked several times but I had a hard time searching for the topic. When swapping my 2.2 for a v-tec 2.2, what needs to be changed. My car is a 95 Honda Accord wagon. Thanks

I would think a minimum is ECU from same Vtec vehicle. Vtec is enabled by ECU. Hopefully your wiring harnesses are compatible. If not, then some major wiring would be required. This would be a real PIA.

good luck

You can actually get a little IC circuit and solder it into the ECU with a few resistors and enable VTEC without dropping a ton of cash on a new ECU. You're probably going to need the wiring harness as well.

I would be using a 2.2 v-tec from a 95 Accord. For some reason I was thinking it would just be a simple swap but maybe not. Surely somebody here has done a swap like this that knows the ins and outs.

you would be wasting your time. spending the money to buy a new motor, add vtec, and possibly labor to pay for the swap if you dont do it yourself........to gain 15hp. It would be hardly noticeable.

Consider a H22 swap which a is 2.2 out of the prelude. which would be a 70+hp increase

If I went with the H22 out of a Prelude, what years should I look for? Also, what other parts would I need for the swap. This is not going to be a just for the hell of it swap, but rather when my current 2.2 goes. It currently has about 250K miles and I am just planning ahead. Thanks for the info.

If you want an economical engine swap, I wouldlook around atsalvage yards (try to find one that lets you do all the disassemply on your own - we have one im my town called Pull-a-Part)and rip out the engine, wiring harness, and ecu from a donor car. Usually the salvage yards that let you do all the parts removal yourself will be dirt cheap.
