synthetic oil
I used synthetics for years and believe they do protect much better than conventionals. That being said, I also believe that conventionals will work perfectly well if youre only planning on keeping your car 150,000 or so miles. If youre not wanting to keep your car for 10+ years then the benefit of synthetics wont really be seen as any good quality conventional will protect your engine just fine for 150,000-175,000 miles.
if you push your car, use syn.
if you want to take good care of your car in general, use syn.
if you want to extend the time between oil changes, use syn.
