Default Tach and Cruise

I've got a 92 Accord EX Sedan with the 4 speed auto. The tachometer will work for a few minutes out of a couple hundred kilometers and Cruise control does the same. They don't seem to work at the same time but it's possible I just haven't noticed. What could be the problem?

Does the check engine light turn on while driving or the D4 light start flashing?

Yes I do recall the D4 light flashing once or twice although I didn't always pay attention and I do believe the check engine light was always on.

First of all, do not have the transmission power flushed.

The CEL light and D4 light means the engine computer and the transmission computer detected a problem and stored a code that will help you figure out your problem.

To get the code(s), all you need is a piece of wire or a thin paperclip. You short the blue two-pin connector behind the passenger kick panel. Turn the key to the II position, count the check engine light flashes for engine code. Repeat for the D4 light for the transmission codes. A long blink=10, short =1 for the check engine light. I think the D4 is the same (or it will blink 12 times for code 12).

See the site below for more details on how to do it.

Let us know what codes you get, and specify if it is from the D4 or the CEL.
