Timing Belt

Default Timing Belt

Hi

I picked up a 98 accord last week for comuting to and from work, it has 108K mi, is there a way to tell if the timing belt has been changed before?

Im sure you can always take it to your local mechanic and they should be able to tell you...Free of charge, of course

I don't think someone could tell just by looking at the belt.

If you bought the car from a dealership, call their service department to find out the service records of the original owner.

or go to somewhere like vehix and have a history report done on the car.

Also if it was done at a Honda Certified shop, there should be a sticker indicating the date of change on the timing belt cover.
If you bought the car at a non-Honda dealer, I would be willing to bet it has not been changed yet.
