Default Timing belt

Just a quick question for you guys. I hope this is in the right place. What does it usually cost for the timing belt replacement?? My car has 175k on it, I figure it won't be long before I need to have it done--I drive a lot. I know the water pump should also be replaced, anything else? I will probably take it to the dealer, I figure for something this important I want to be sure it was done right.

Thanks.

it all depends on the year and model.........but since we do not know we cannot give you an accurate response........

Input the year and model on your signature that way we will all know what year you are asking about

thanks for inputting year and model

the timing belt kit for your car should include

timing belt
balancer belt
water pump
coolant
valve cover gasket
upper spark plug seals
cam seal
balancer shaft seal + retainer
crank seal
rear balancer shaft gear seal
alt + p/s belts

if a dealer does the job the price might vary depending on where you reside but be ready to spend over 500 dollars ..........
if a honda specialty shop does the job it should be a bit cheaper but make sure that they use Honda parts
I would not let any other shops do the job other than the 2 i mentioned
IF you do the job you can save a lot of money...

Cool....I was just hoping it would stay under $1000.....

I will probably let the dealer do it, I want it done right. I try to work on my car myself as much as possible and learn in the process, but the complexity of this job and the fact that I have to be able to drive my car often just doesn't mix well. I am still a learner/do it yourself mechanic....gotta know where to draw the line.

Thanks for your help!

What you try to do is to cultivate one of the better Honda Techs into doing your job on the side which is about what most of the dealer ships techs do to make that extra $$$$

As long as you plan to keep the car awhile, get a repair manual. Best is from www.helminc.com but sorta pricey. Chilton or Haynes are OK, but less detailed. Read thru the section on timing belt replacement to give yourself a real good idea what the job is all about. Maybe you'll still let the shop do it, but you'll have a better understanding when you talk to the mechanic.
