Default Tourer automatic boot opening

Hi - new so first post. I've checked out the FAQ etc but can't find anything on my problem.

The automatic boot opening / closing on my 2006 Accord Tourer Exec works but the boot doesen't always stay open - it either then auto closes or just drops shut. Manual opening works but it still doesn't always stay open.

Honda have tested and said the gas struts don't have enough gas to hold the boot open and have quoted £87.25 per strut plu £211 fitting (2 hours labour).

I have a quote from a breaker for £75 for a pair of the struts.

Q1: could I fit these myself?
Q2: How do I do it?
Q3: Would a small local garage be able to do the job for me?

Any advice would be welcomed.

Regards

Mike
