I have a 1994 honda accord ex manual with a v-tec engine. I have had the master cylinder, oil sending unit valve and the cluthch slave cylinder replaced. When I am driving on occasion (randomly) my car will not accelerate, the rpm's will go up and the vehicle will rev but the car will not go itself. I thought it would be the clutch but I am not sure because on somedays it will drive perfectly fine. Please Help I am New to the Honda world and would like to fix it myself if possible.

 

It sounds like the clutch is starting to slip. If it starts happening more often, then the clutch will have to be replaced.

 

If you want to try to "catch it in the act", have a look at the clutch throw-out lever. When working properly, it should move back & forth about 12mm when you pump the clutch pedal.

Probably will be a PITA to catch this; you'll need someone to watch as you pump the pedal & it'll probably screw up when you're alone in the car. Like PA says, it sounds like the clutch is starting to slip, but I don't know how it can do that sometimes & not others.

 

Another way to check...

With the clutch pedal NOT pressed down, take the throw-out lever & press it over towards the clutch slave cylinder. There's a spring inside the slave, pressing the piston out. On a new clutch, you should be able to compress the cylinder quite a bit. As the clutch wears out, that extra compression will gradually dissapear to where you cannot compress any more. So how much does YOURS compress?
