Default Transmission Control System Malfunction

Hey guys, I found this site and browsed through it and it's exciting to see this many helpful people in one place.

Anyway I'm hoping someone can shed some light on my situation.

I have a 1998 Accord 2.3L 4-cylinder, etc. etc. I live in Illinois and as such I need to bring it in for emissions testing but my check engine light is on so I need to get it fixed first. I have already spent $1,700 to fix other stuff including, replacing the upstream oxygen sensor and full fuel injection service among many other things. The mechanics seem to know what they are doing but the light keeps coming back on. Anyway, this is EXACTLY what the description on the today's invoice said. It's too cryptic for me to gather anything from it:

JMSES LIGHT ON SCAN TESTED DTC'S HISTORY CODES STORED WERE P0171BBANK 1 SYSTEM
TOO LEAN P1739 MANUFACTURES CONTROLLED TRANSMISSION PENDING CODE P0170 FUEL
TRIM BANK 1 PERMANENT CODE P0700 TRANSMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM MALFUNCTION

They mentioned I should bring it to a tranny specialist, and also mentioned it might have something to do with the 3rd gear switch?

One other thing that might have some importance is when I went into to get the emissions test the first time I got a report and under DTC - stored codes it listed: P1739

Phew! I know thats a lot to take in but any help/suggestions/guidance would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!
