Default Transmission high pitch whine at 70+mph

I know this topic has been beat to death and appears to be a design flaw and can't be repaired. I even called the local Honda dealership and they acknowledged "they just do that" which is very frustrating.

Here's my query. Due to the nature of high pitch sounds and the ability to mask them, has anyone tried to put any sound dappening material on the firewall or on the transmission?

Even if I knew what high temp sound insulation I could use (which I don't) I don't know what part of the transmission to put it on.

Anyone have any experience with this?

This may sound stupid, but when in the car, if I turn my head a certain way the noise goes away or is diminished. I guess its because high pitch isn't as reflective and all consuming like low frequency sound is. I had the same issue with a cricket in a bedroom once. If the ears are turned a certain way I couldn't hear it. Okay, I'm ready for the slings and arrows.

I have a 2005 Accord LX 2.3L auto.
