Default Transmission question

I have a 2002 Accord and it has a v6 automatic and it winds out and shifts a little hard going from 1st to 2nd but every other gear is PERFECT no issues whatsoever... A while back it threw a P0780 code but i had it erased and it never has come back on.... Does anybody have any ideas??

The 98-02 accords were known to have transmission failures.

Code P0780 is a Problem in Shift Control System Comprehensive. Not sure if it is a shift solenoid or and internal problem. I don't have the diagnostics for that code. You may want to search on here to see if other have encountered that code.

As for the transmission failures, a bearing would fall apart internally, and ruin the transmission by plugging up the fluid passages. There was an extended warranty, but I'm not sure if you car qualified due to mileage or years owned.

A fluid change may help. Don't get it flushed. Just drain, refill, drive, repeat for a total of 3 refills to exchange the fluid.

if you look at the trans, you'll see it... they usually have a 3/8 square hole in them (not 100 percent sure on the newer ones) so u can just stick a ratchet wrench in there and loosen it. then when you fill it, make sure u use genuine honda fluid, and check the level with the engine off. easy as pie

Drain plug is #8 in the picture, it has a square hole for a 3/8 socket extension (without a socket). It's not under the axle, but forward on the transmission case. Get down under the left-side headlight & look from that viewpoint. I thought you fill through teh dipstick, but #7 is listed as the fill plug.
