I've read a couple of posts that lead me to believe that the automatic transmission in the Accord is not that reliable. My car has 114k miles on it and my transmission shows no signs of problems, but I'm curious as to what the weaknesses are and what I should expect from my tranny...

What do you guys know?

 

My '98 hasn't had problems either. I think you see more problems on a site like this, because people don't bother to make a thread saying the car works fine...

 

The biggest problem is with the V6 Auto Tranny's and it was enough to warrant a class action suit but not enough to warrant a recall.... and like jimblake said on sites like this you'll hear about it more but if you browse around you'll notice that quite a few people have the "affected vehicles" without any problems... the I4's don't seem to have issues... the weakness is simply a bearing that honda used has a poor design, just drive the car like normal and if you are REALLY worried about it call honda of america and tell them what vehicle you have and ask about coverage for the tranny etc/the class action suit and they'll give you all the info you need plus then it will be on record

 

If you chnage the tranny oil every 15k-20k on the i4's youll never have to worry about it. I did with mine and it runs great, no prbs at all. And i beat the **** out of it.

 

my 98 accord v6 has 105,000 and the tranny is perfect!! no problems.....i try not to do heavy loads, that will ruin the tranny really fast
