Default Transponder Key....

Ok, I have what I thought was the valet key to my 2007 Honda Accord, but everytime I try to turn the car on it won't turn over. Instead, it sounds like it wants to start and then a little green key blinks on the dash. I was told this was because there was something wrong with the key, like someone could have messed it up. I have tried to find locksmiths to cut me a new key but so far everyone wants $200 and up, that seems to be ridiculous to me for a key.

Any advice on how to just get around this issue??

Thanks!

key is probably ok. you need to take ALL the keys including the valet to the dealer and have them re-registered with the ECM of your car. last i heard, they were charging 1.0 flat rate, should be less than the 200 bucks at the locksmith and then you would still have a key that didn't work unless they had/have access to the honda diagnostic system (HDS)

Thanks Jeff, the only key I have is the valet key or what everyone seems to think is the valet key. I can't find anyone local to Texas, surrounding Dallas area, that is willing to do it for less than $200. The ones that say $200 are all saying they are giving me a deal. I unfortunately don't have that kind of money to spend on a key...that's practically a car payment!!

Now the plot thickens. did that key ever start and run the car? if so, you have a crank/no start condition that needs to be diagnosed...unlikely it's the key, the transponders rarely if ever fail.
