Trunk Light Not Working Properly
Hello,
Bought a 2000 Accord EX about a month ago and the trunk light comes on sometimes, and sometimes not until a minute after the lid is opened. I tried wiring up LED's to it the other day and for 2 days the light would not work at all. Then today I opened the trunk to see if they were working and at first the LED's came on, then they went dim after a few seconds. I played with the wires to make sure they were secure and the LED's would flicker from bright to dim. I tried plugging in the original trunk light and that won't come on at all now.
No idea what is going on here...

When it is not working take a test light and check each of the terminals. If the light does not light up on one of the terminals then there is likely a short in the power feed. If the test light comes on on one of the terminals then there is a bad ground. Good luck.

Just me but it sounds like a weak ground.
Power "should" be present at all times......when the trunk is open the latch supplies ground. So either the ground to body is "bad" or there is an issue in the trunk latch switch sending the ground to the light.

Here's a simple check to see whether the issue may be due to the ground wire going to the latch switch or possibly the latch switch itself.
Disconnect the 6P-gray connector from the trunk lid latch. Then use a piece of wire or small paper clip to jump the wire harness side connector: terminal no. 1 (orn wire) to terminal no. 6 (blk wire). --This should provide ground directly to the trunk light. Report back the results.
Using the connector tab for orientation (from wire side, since it is a female connector), terminal no. 1 is on the left corner at the top, and terminal no. 6 is at the bottom right corner of the connector. But, verify the wire colors I mentioned.
