Unable to open Hood (1998 model)
HI all,
A few years ago I started having problem with my hood latch.
I order to close it properly I had to move the latch using a screwdriver.
Last week a friend of mine made some minor work and I showed him how to close the hood.
Well, now I think that he broke or detach the cable from the latch.
The handle inside the car is loose. I even detach the cable from the handle and pull the cable but no luck. I also tried while my friend pushing on the hood and we also try to pull the hood while pulling the cable ...no luck.
Does anybody have some instruction to give me on how I can get the hood to open?
Appreciate the help.

take a long screwdriver and put it through the grill in the latch. it is a small slot that the head of the screwdriver goes in. then leverage the latch open using the center of the grill. Do it slow so you dont break the grill.

I removed the plastic shield.
Then I removed the 3 screws from the latch.
I cut the cable.
Replaced the cable ... I just use a small metal cable that goes from the latch and let it go just outside the hood.
Put back the latch and that's it.
So now I just have to pull that small cable to open the hood.
I will probably change the cable eventually ... it's only 15$
