Default valve cover gasket

Im going to replace my valve cover gasket and need to know where to apply the RVT silicone? does it go on the cover itself and on the engine like both sides of the gasket? a beed around the head and around the valve cover? i have the rubber gasket so i plan on using the silicone to help it out

Default RE: valve cover gasket

IIRC you'll want to just use the rubber seal, no RTV

Actually you do want to use something but not RTV. Use Permatex non hardening gasket sealer (aka hondabond) on the 90 degree cornersof the gasket atthe front and rear beraring caps on the head side of the gasket. Don't over do it, a little goes a long way.
