Default Valve shaft fell out of valve keepers

Still having issues getting my 160k MT 99 accord 4 cylinder to stay running, and while running idle in parke the car shakes are quite big. Did a compression test and got 180psi on 1,2, and 4.

3 had 0 psi compression. One of the valves is quite low and out of the valve keepers. Could this be the cause of the 0 psi?

Please advise. Thanks!!!

Yes, the valve stem is bent preventing the valve from seating. Someone likely had a timing belt failure.

Only fix is to remove the cylinder head and have cylinder head rebuilt w/ valve replacements, new stem seals. Also check head for cracks.

good luck

how do you know the valve is bent? Would the stem be moving up and down as I hand cranked the engine, despite being out of the valve keepers?

The usual reason for the valve stem end to be low is failure of valve to return to seat. It may be that valve retainers were not correctly installed, leading to valve dropping and hitting piston.

Zero compression is highly indicative of valve damage. I doubt even a hole in piston would cause zero compression.

good luck

Depends upon the size of the hole.

To the OP, time to pull the head.
