Default Valves filled with oil

Just got my 96 accord back from shop because timing belt broke and caused major problems. Had the belt and water pump replaced, car was still not running right had to replace all the valves. Got car back and it is not running good at all. Oil in the valves. Mechanic says motor needs replacing but it cranks and sounds fine but when you start out it is missing. My dad said he thinks it is because the seals in the gasket needed to be replaced but mechanic says he did replace them and used some sort of sealant on it. What on earth could this be if all gaskets were replaced? Out of four of the valves, three were deep in oil. The mechanic is a relative so I know if he says he replaced them, he did. Going to take it apart Tuesday and see whats going on but in the event all the gaskets look good and new what else could be the problem? Thanks in advance.

I moved your thread to the gen tech help, because you will get more help here and it is the proper forum.

Welcome to HAF.

Do you have oil getting into the spark plug tubes, or do you have oil staying on top of the cylinder head and not draining to the oil pan?

Is your car an LX, DX, or EX? 4 or 6 cylinder?

Read PA's entire post and respond to all questions. Put your Accord information in your signature line to avoid repeat questions.
