VSS bad???? 1991 accord
If the VSS is bad will the speedo work correctly? Will it cause the "S" light to be on all the time. My light is on All the time while in D4. Seems like it shifts fine but when I'm slowing down almost to a stop and then go to hit the gas again it down shifts real hard like it should have been in the lower gear already. Just seems like it should down shift as Im slowing down not right when I go to take off. Will the vss cause this? Any ideas???

I would check for engine and transmission codes. Go to the common diy thread on top of the gen tech help forum, and click on the link to checking engine codes. Post any codes you find on here. The check engine light will flash engine codes, the S light will flash transmission codes. Tell us which light flashed which code.

I got codes 7 and 8 on the S light. Which don't make any sense. it basically shifts fine other than the down shift not coming soon enough (in my opinion) and the typical harder up shifts that I hear is common in the gen 4 cars.

Both shift control solenoid A and B have electrical faults. It could be faulty solenoid (unlikely for both to be faulty), solenoid connector fault, wiring fault, or TCU problem.
Suggest checking solenoid resistances A & B (12-24 ohms) starting at solenoid connector and moving to TCM/harness connector, if they check OK. If resistance checks are also good at the TCM/Harness connector, then TCM could be faulty.
A shop manual is essential to know which pins to test. Check Online Manuals thread in DIY forum for a download (90-93 Accord).
good luck
