Question VTC Actuator installation question

I am changing the timing chain, guides and ATC actuator on a 2003 Honda Accord 2.4L Vetch. When I try to align the timing chain to the corresponding marks on the camshaft and crank shaft gears the camshafts seem to have pressure on them and want to rotate so that the chain jumps about two links unless I hold the chain tight. Is this normal?

sounds like you may not have the VTC actuator locked, you need to turn it clockwise until it clicks in position.

Thank you for your reply Jeff, How hard is it to turn? When I turn it by hand there is no movement in the acuator but the cam will turn.

you have to hold the camshaft with an open end wrench so it does not move and then use a ratchet/socket to turn the actuator.
