Water leaking in Drivers Side Firewall
I am experiencing problems with water leaking in the drivers side firewall above the left footrest pad. I have been unable to trace where the water is entering. The carpet and floor mat are soaked. This is not from the cooling system. I have removed the plastic inner fender and the the wiper motor assembly to search for possible leak areas but to no avail.
Has anyone experienced this problem or suggestions as to where to search?

Are you losing any coolant? It might be possible for heater core to leak to driver's side.
Otherwise, a front windshield leak seems most likely, although if this is original windshield that seems improbable.
Make sure you cowl (water off windshield drains into cowl) drains are clear. If water built up in cowl drains, it might be possible to leak into cab.
One final possibility, which seems more likely is sunroof drains (one on each corner). They can become blocked or disconnected and cause water to run down the front posts. I had one become disconnected on a 2000 Toyota Celica.
good luck

Anti-freeze has a pretty destinctive smell, so this would probably be rainwater.
There's also a handful of feed-thrus in the firewall. Throttle cable, wiring harness, stuff like that.
Maybe a last resort, but take up all the carpeting & look for holes in the floorpan. I think there's some intentional holes, with rubber plugs.
