Default Wheel Bearing issue

Last night I was driving to visit a relative when my car started making a loud noise like a flat tire. Pulled over, checked the car, and everything looked fine. Got back in, started driving, and the noise continued to get louder. No vibration or shaking in either the wheel or pedals, but a very loud noise accompanied my driving. Had it towed to the mechanic, who diagnosed a failed hub bearing.

When I've had bearings fail in the past, they have failed gradually, with the "whup-whup-whup" sound growing over time. This sound appeared suddenly and got dramatically worse. Anyone else experience anything similar in their seventh gen?

Never had a wheel bearing failure in any Accords I've owned, and seen relatively few posts on the problem.

I had one wheel bearing in a BMW 318is that failed progressively over perhaps 1 month from barely noticeable whine to loud roar on final trip which was un-nerviing. The noise went from merely annoying to intolerable w/i 1000 miles of driving on a final trip.

I think your experience may be unique.

good luck

I've had rear wheel bearing failures in 98 Accord & 07 Civic. Both times they took months & months to gradually get worse.
