Default Where can I find a power source on my 99 Accord?

So I'm a total rookie at pretty much everything to do with cars, but got a wild hair yesterday to run some LEDs into the footwells in my 1999 Accord Coupe. I spent about 6 hours today taking the dash out, etc (Also replaced the cabin air filters) and just as the sun set down I got the first LED to light up! I ran it from a positive (White/Blue) and negative (Black/Red) wire on the passengers side compartment. Although I am super proud of myself, the light only works when the door is open?

Where can I tap into to get power that will allow me to insert my own switch? What does it look like? I don't want to just start cutting wires in my car on a whim!

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated!
(This is my first post!)

P.S. Her name is Kelly

A popular place to get power from is the cigarette lighter. Then just wire the power through a switch before it goes to the light. Sounds like you might have tapped into the door light wire.

Thanks Live2Rice, BUT what does that wire look like?
How do I get to it? Do I need to put the switch in first or can I run the lights, THEN the switch at the end? The switch just closes the connection right???

Any pictures of what I should tap into???
Sorry I'm such a rook haha

To get power you can just use an add-a-circuit into the fuse box (either in an empty unused slot or an existing fuse slot); for ground, just find a chassis area with an existing bolt or nut.

This thread include a diagram I drew up for a 2012 Accord; but, it is the same method.

If you can't find an unused slot, the add-a-circuit allows use of an existing fuse slot to piggy-back.

Add-a-circuits are available at many auto parts stores. Get the one that matches you car's fuse slot size.

What if my autozone doesn't have one of those?
How much are they? How do I ground it?
Does anyone know where the power for the headlights or radio can be spliced???
Thanks for the help redbull-1!
I just don't know that I would know what to do with that piece.
