Default Where is my oil going?

Hi all,

2001 Accord EX, 225,000, 5 speed.

Just changed the oil 3 weeks ago, have gone about 800 miles. Checked the oil today, dipstick shows barely any oil, just the tip of the dipstick had oil.

No leaks (driveway is spotless), oil light doesn't come on. Obviously it's burning oil somewhere but how?

Any help appreciated.

make sure you check it, once its cold and been sitting for a couple hours, its usually because the oil is all up on the crankshaft and stuff, my 96 accord is the same way, all i did was put a half a quart in to top it off... and NO its not burning.... accord just like oil lol

look on the bottom of your oil pan. is there any wetness? if not your engine is older, could be leaking past your piston rings and burning up in the cylinders.

Any smoke coming out the tail pipe when you accelerate ? With that many miles i wouldn't surprise if it burns oil because of worn rings.

I just purchased my 2000 Accord 4 cyl with 5 spd tranny. The previous owner told me it is using about 1 qt every 1000 miles or so. Checked the plugs, no sign of burning oil, checked the tailpipe, no sign of burning oil. Looked all over the engine and tranny area, no sign of leaking oil.

I found the PCV valve was plugged up like the Hoover dam. If the PCV valve is plugged in the open position, it can let vaporized oil into the intake and the engine will burn the oil, but it is so light it does not show on plugs or exhaust. I've only got about 500 miles on it so far, but I will check it at 1000 and see where the oil is at. Could be the issue with your engine. But mine only has 84,000 miles on it.

- no some coming out

-no wetness on oil pan

-pulled the PCV valve and there is some oil residue on it, could be the problem? Still rattles so I wouldn't think so, but thoughts?

1qt burned over 1k miles is normal.

cars are made to burn some oil.

amount varies by manufacturer tolerances.

for instance, ford, mercury is 1qt per 750miles. anything more than that below the mileage margin is considered defective, and tests must be ran.

you wont see signs with that little of oil consumption.
