Where is the oil filter
i worked for Honda for a spell and i can tell you the placement of the filter on the 4 cyls is terrible. if the exhaust was hot you got a permanent burn mark on your forearm. they suck to change, still have the scar 20 years later though its faded.
I am not sure what is meant by the question "Which side of the car is the engine on?" Mine is a 2011 model with a 4 cyl 2.4l motor running east/west, ie across the car. The photo on this site shows what should be an easily accessible filter, yet others with similar cars state that they have major problems. I'm just going to have to get down and dirty to find out for myself.
I think we are trying to figure out which side the drive belts are on, drivers or pass side. You are "down under", most of us are in the US, so we want to be sure of a few things
Did you make the F1 race two weeks ago?

OK now I understand. The fanbelts are on the driver's side. Here that means on the right hand side of the car. (Life would be so much easier if you Americans would learn to drive on the right side, by that I mean the left, not the right. Confusing isn't it)
The entire engine seems offset towards the right hand side. I've looked through both wheel arches and still can't find the filter, but even though they hand the steering etc I doubt the engine castings will be different.

really? I have yet to burn myself on my exhaust once and mine is much larger than OEM. I have been changing oil on all my hondas for about 10years.... not using a lift might I add

The placement isn’t really all that bad on all the Honda engines other than K series. They are little harder to get to. But all in all not really THAT bad of a location

) and RHD.....well most of the world.....Well, now I'm lost in thought...anyway, on the four cyl, most of the time the filter is on the back side almost center of the car (back side = between engine and firewall) at a 90 degree angle....unless you have a lift, you'll need a good jack and jack stands to get to it....please do not ever get under a car without proper safety.
Your post confused me. When you sit inside the car, the driver is on the right side of the vehicle?
If so, take off the driver's side tire. You will be able to see and remove the oil filter.
That is how I do this on my TSX (honda euro-r). I have almost the same engine as your accord.

Me? I'm pretty sure "down under" - see "puggs" location they are RHD cars - I could be wrong - which means they are different than what we drive in the US (we drive the car from the left side)....that was all I was trying to say....sorry for confusing things....
It drives me crazy when someone describes the "left and right" as they look at the car from in front of it....left and right are as you "SIT" in the car is/was my point.....
......ever had a customer (tech or walk-in) call or come in and say they need a left motor mount for their car, you sell/deliver it to them, they call back/come back later calling you all kinds of names because you sold them the wrong part to find out they needed the right (pass side in the US) motor mount...and of course you can't tell them they were wrong in what they asked for, so you have to say "sorry for my mistake"....been almost 20 years since I did that for a living but it stays with you......where is that "rant" icon....maybe we should add that to the list for Ang?
We should add that to the list.
The confusing part was puggsley's last post.
Now I know his car is a RHD car. I think the engine is the same, where the engine is on the right side (driver's side) and the transmission is on the left (passenger's side) just like the US.
That is why I was asking him the sides of the car, so I knew which tire he should take off to see the oil filter. It is the driver's side tire, if my information above is correct.

I never get under a car when it's just on jacks, but while rotating wheels today I looked for the oil filter. Hands up all those who said they are hard to find. You were wrong, check out the photo attached. It's about the middle of the car at the rear of the engine. With the car on ramps or the like the filter and drain plug are easy to reach.
Incase this doesn't pick up the photo I'll put the photo in the gallery too
