Will I Burst Into Flames??
I have a power steering leak that is causing some smoke when it hits my exhaust manifold.
I know I need to replace the power steering high pressure line but I'm not sure I can drive the 15 miles to my mechanic without bursting into flames. Does anyone know about this or how risky this can be? At this point I don't see any evidence of leaks on the ground when I park and the drip is not constant. Maybe every few minutes? hard to say.
Wondering if it's worth ponying up the 80 bucks for a tow.

power steering fluids flash point is at 170 degrees C or 340 F. it is a risk. the fluid its self is hard to ignite but the toxic vapors produced(the smoke you see) can ignite at a lower temp. in the summer(now) i wouldnt drive more than a couple minutes. so i'd recommend a tow. look for friends with car trailers first though.
