Default Window glass Problem - Regulator

Hi

I have a 2004 Honda Accord LX, 4 cylinder , Automatic Transmission, 88K miles on it.

From last 2 months approx...i noticed that when i bring down the window glass of front passenger window, the glass does not come down as usually....it seems to be moving left / right a bit.....it seems to be loose....i don't have words to describe...

I went to my mechanic and he mentioned that regulator need to be replaced and this would cost $390.00. He said it's a plastic stuff which usually get torned off due to heat. I live in phoenix and temperature here is 105+ in summer.

Question:
1. Is this cost for fix resonable.......?

2. If i don't go for the fix right now....will thing make the problem worst ?

I asked mechanic for answer on #2 --- he said it might work for say 10 months to 1 year or glass may fall down at any time.....

Any suggestions.

thanks a bunch
TVSD

I usually do my own work, so I only look at the cost of the part. For just the part, the cost is $240 at the dealership (or $175 + shipping for OEM parts at online stores). Aftermarket ones aren't as expensive.

The door panel should be removed to check for the source of your problem. The other sources are loose bolts where the glass bolts to the motor. The glass position needs readjusted. The tracks may need lubricated with silicone paste.

If the window speed is the same as before, I would be inclined to first try the other fixes before spending the money on the motor.

I don't know if you want to DIY, or if you want your mechanic to do this stuff.

If it was my car, I would lubricate the rubber windows run channel with silicone paste, then adjust the glass to see if that fixes the problem. That involves removing the door panel.
