Default wipers make this thud noise

2005 Accord, just recently the wipers make this god-awful noise when in operation. I took a short video clip, I hope its okay to link it:

The noise is happening when the wiper are at the top and bottom of the range of motion. Turn on the wipers in the driveway and figure out if one of the wipers is hitting something over its range of motion.

With the wipers off, see if they can move up & down with excessive "slop" in the linkage. If so, 2 possibilities come to mind...

1. Wiper arm has come loose from it's own shaft.
Open the hood so you can get the nut right at the pivot point of the wiper arm. If that's loose, then position the arm properly & tighten the nut.

2. Loose linkage down underneath the cowling.
From the wiper motor, there's linkage arms with bellcranks & bushings. One (or more) of them is loose. Replacement parts can be pricey, depending on what's loose. I've never had to do that, so can't really give firsthand advice about it.

I'm in the same boat. I've searched this forum and this post seems to be the closest I can find. Great "You Tube" by the way.

I was trying to find the DIY steps to fix this issue. Anyone know where I can find them?

I found this part on ebay. Looks like it fits 2003-2007. Does this look like a good price?

$99 for the entire Honda OEM linkage seems like a decent price.

However what seems to go bad first is those white endcap bushings at the end of the linkage rods. There are two linkage rods, "A" and "B" ... if you look them up individually they will be $15-25 each. These just pop off the ball joints and you can pop the new rods on, without even removing the linkage from the car.

Did you happen to see them on-line? Would I be looking for an OEM part or after market. I did look, although I didn't dig too deep. I'll dig a little deeper.

Om my 2006 it looked to me that those "rods" were mounted on the under side of the linkage. You think it works the same for my model year?

Thanks for the help!

I think the wiper link rods all snap on from the underside of the linkage assembly. The front of the assembly has the shafts on which the wiper arms are mounted.

I just checked Sons Honda and the linkages are really cheap for a 2005-6:

* Rod Unit A, part #76540-SDA-A01, $7.24
* Rod Unit B, part #76550-SDA-A01, $7.48

In contrast the links for my car (1996) are $16 and $19. Lucky you!
