Default Wipers overtravel 1991 LX

I have trouble with the wiper blades overtraveling on my 1991 LX, 184k. It's as if the arc of travel is too many degrees. I've adjusted the wiper arms one notch up (hits the edge of the trim on the A pillar on the upstroke) and one notch down ( hits the cowl grille on the downstroke)
Being as I'm **** enough to notice, but too cheap to drive something newer, I really gotta fix it. What do I need to do to limit the travel of the wiper arms? There is a little bit of up and down play when they're parked. Do you think I should look to wiper linkage bushings, or the limiting contacts in the motor? Can one adjust the limiting contacts in the wiper motor?

Thanks for any advice!

do you have the wrong blade in the wrong spot ?? driver side is longer than pass side . also are these factory blades ?? if blades are correct .(and adjustment is ok as you stated ) ,, I would have to think that you got some wiper motor arm issues .. you need to remove the cowl and chk it out

I've got basic Tricos on there, 24" on the driver's side, and 19" on the passenger side. That seems correct per the catalogs, and it matched what came off. Guess it's time to take the cowl grille off and have a look...

Are the wiper rod bushings worn?
