ok now which of the wires is the power anyway? i cant ever remember if its the red one or the yellow one. the red wire goes to the red wire and the yellow to the yellow(for the harness on the cd player) but i need to know which one to cut and hook the cig lighter wire too.

ok so i did that...but when i pull the key and shut the car off the power stays on on the radio till i manually hold the off button which leads me to think that the cig lighter wire gets constant power all the time from the battery as well when its off. if i continue to shut the radio completely off it shouldnt drain the battery right? any other wires you can think of to use instead of the cig wire??

I wouldn't be suprised if your cig lighter was a constant power source.... as long as you turn off your radio it won't drain your battery... I had a car wired that way once.. *L*

yeah if i knew of a better wire i would use it...i just have to remember that when i shut the car off to turn the radio off which shouldnt be too hard considering i will hear it playing when the car is off and that will remind me to shut it off.

Some of my old vehicles actually had blank fuses (I.E. supposed to be a power door fuse but no power door locks) and a lot of times these will be hot leads still. Put a tester in there and test all your empty fuses and you may be able to find one
