Default Won't Start/Sputtering

Hello everyone! well i'm working on the 96 accord my buddy just bought. yesterday i replaced the valve cover gasket, spark plug gaskets, and the washers. no more oil leak . i started her up and it sound really funky. sputtering, it sounded like it was misfiring and smelled like gas. so i pulled the plugs again and saw 2 were fouled. replaced them and the problem still continued. swapped back the old plug wires and still nothing. i think i have the wires in the wrong places as well but i cant find any info as to which plug goes into which on the distributor. Any and all help is very much appreciated.

was the car running properly before you did the work?

Is this an LX, DX, or EX accord?

When you look at the distributor cap from the passenger side of the car, start at the spark plug wire going to the #1 cylinder (driver's side of engine). Going clock wise the wires should go from 1-3-4-2.

Make sure when the car is a TDC the rotor in the dist cap is pointed at plug wire #1
