Default Anyone seen something like this?

I was out for a walk the other day and I passed by a house that had what looked like an Accord parked out in front. Look liked a 90-93. But the part that caught my eye was some kind of sloped vent mounted on the hood on top of where the air filter box would be to the right of the car. It looked like a dryer vent the way it was sloped but with a much narrower opening.

I'm guessing this isn't stock but what is it? Anyone ever see or hear about something like this? I could have took a picture but I didn't want to blow someones car up all over the internet and I didn't have a camera anyway.

Ventilation? Wouldn't this let rain in under the hood?

sounds like to me it is for air flow to keep the under hood temps down. BUt it's pointless as your engine bay gets plenty of air flow when driving. Or maybe it's for the intake so they can use a short ram and still suck in cold air from outside?? I donno with out seeing it.
