Default Cold Air Intake

Hey there, I've got an 98 Accord V6 and i've been looking at Cold Air Intakes, but people are telling me that it would be pointless to put one in my car, any thoughts? FWIW: My engine is as stock as it comes

Really? everyone I talk to say thats the best first upgrade to get from stock. I don't have alot of knowledge about it but I would say get it.

Well, it certainly is the easiest first upgrade to install.

I don't know about specifically the V-6, but Hondas usually have air intake/filter systems that aren't very restrictive when the engine is stock. An intake can only improve to the extent that the stock system is restrictive.

And people have said there isn't nearly as much stuff for the V-6 as what you can get for the 4-cyl engines.

Smile RE: cold air intake

Hey I just installed a intake in my 98 accord ex v6 sedan. I looked at many options, K and N was my first choice then a bunch of ppl reccomended the Spectre Cold Air Intake. Its a lot cheaper and is just as good. I think I paid like $50 for a set up. If you look at my pictures I got you can see the intake I just installed, I cut off the hose off the original intake and attached it to the pipe to keep it easy and have all the original hoses. Theres a huge difference now how my car reacts and picks also adds a decent amount of noise.
What engine do you have? 4cyl? Automatic? What are you looking to spend? I think if money isnt the problem then go with a name-brand you know, or if you dont mind it is a good intake! honda_chef

@honda_chef where did you purchase it, I wanna get one if its decent I dont mind if its name brand or not, as long as a couple months or a year on down the line I have to purchase another one

Default Re: Cold air intake

I purchased mine at O'Reilys. I heard Autozone has them too if you don't an O'reilys. But if you go to Autozone.com and type your vehicle make the part # is8219. That is going to be for a Spectre Intake ducting kit, $39.99 and then you'll also need to purchase a Air Filter Cone, $24.99 they come in black, blue, red in color YOUR CHOICE the thing with this kit is it fits 20 other vehicles! If you have the stock air filter kit installed what I did was I cut off the hose of that and cut and measured the 3" aluminum pipe and clamped that 1) it looks cool 2) i get to keep all the original hook ups, because there is no way out of the box this intake will fit perfectly you have to put 30min of modddy work into it ha. But again if you look in my pictures you can see what I mean by what I did. I'd go to your local auto-shop and see if they have these parts so you dont have to pay for shipping!
any questions or need help with this just PM thanks.
