Default Header Noise Level

I am looking for a little more power and performance out of my accord, aren't we all. I however drive about 130-180 miles a day and would like to keep it pretty quiet. I was looking in to some headers, but I can't havea lot of noise in the cockpit because I am on the phone a lot with work and I am not sure I could take the exhuast noise for that long. How much of an increase is there with new headers, and is it work the power for the money?

Since you're saying headers (plural) I assume you have a V-6? I don't know of any headers for the V-6 but an exhaust header is available for the 4 cylinder. There is zero noise change with an exhaust header. The exhast sytem you put behind it affects the noise level.

Sorry I use to have a 95 TransAm that I puts headers on. This is a 4 cyl so header is more appropriate.
So no change in note, pitch, or level of noise???

Hey RTexasF, how hard was it to get them on? I remember when I put the ones on my TA it was a huge pain. Can you feel the difference? Also is there any change is gas mileage. I drive insane amount of mileage and can't afford to do anything that will hurt the mileage.

Should do the opposite... if you drive sparingly your gas mileage will get better... in theory... but it won't get worse unless you dig your foot in more often...

Really? I think we don't hear it because of SRI roar, RTexas

You've got to remember I still have a stock exhaust system so the header made no change inloudness at all.
It's no nitrous boost but the engine responded well to the header.

The installation was easy.......I paid to have it done!

MPG will remain the same or improve slightly since you are helping scavange the exhaust. For me mid to upper 20's in town and mid to upper 30's highway. A/C on always.

Allocate the funds for a full exhaust system while you're at it. I regret not having done that when I had the bucks. For this old man my only choice appears to be a World Sport or WS II muffler with the rest custom done in 2 1/4" stainless. The WS + stainless pipeis just waaay more money than I want to spend right now but it will be the one when I can swing it. The deep tone without the fart can sound is imperative for me. I suppose if you want quiet but still experience a horsepower gain you've got to pay the price.
