Silencer on exhaust?

The mandrel allows the exhaust pipes to be bent into smooth curves without undesirable creasing, kinking, or collapsing.
The mandrel bending or the silencer makes a huge difference?

Mandrel bent vs. Crush bent is a huge difference, mandrel bends are smooth all the way through, crush bends have ripples throughout the inside of the bend and make exhaust flow less effecient.

I'm honestly not sure... The machine that you were talking about sounds like it could be but I don't know enough about exhaust customization to be certain....
