Son drove out of the yard, said something made a noise, then the car would not move in any gear, appears to be shifting OK
Someone on another forum, suggested that the axle joint may have slipped out of the splines on the transmission just enough to disengage the axle. I had the Pass side axle out just prior to this problem to replace the oil seal, I checked, and it appears the axle is not engaged as far as it should be. I have done most of my own repair work since the late 50's. I have never worked on transmissions however. I have not had anything happen like that before. I am wondering about the Set-ring (clip) on the end of a axle shaft. Thanks

I was pretty sure this was not the correct forum for this issue, but someone asked me what the problem was that I was having. I am not going to re-post, problem found, axle had slipped out of the differential, chewed up the end of the CV shaft on the very end of the retaining clip area some, I just ordered a new joint assy. I will try to post in the correct forum next time. Feel free to move these posts if you like. Thank to all that helped.
