Default 2013 accord starter

Issue with push button start. Started experiencing intermittently when pushing button, car won't start. Typically hit the button again and car starts. Now, however, it is taking a few to several times of pushing the start button for car to start. This can happen after being turned off for a minute to overnight. There is no pattern. I've seen this problem has happened to many owners of the '13 honda accord when i look online. Why hasn't honda taken responsibility & issued a recall.

Jan 2019 update...its the STARTER....since last post ….was having starting issue on daily basis....took to dealership and rep said he has seen problem before and pretty sure it was the starter....$800 bucks later....Starts every time. guess I have to hope for Honda to issue a recall notice

If you have a v6, you may want to contact the dealer because there is a TSB on the starter that may apply to your situation.

The starter on my 2014 Accord Sport failed at 60k mi. I bought a salvage starter for $100 and swapped it in 30 minutes. Actual price of the starter is $350 but dealers put a 100% markup on parts.

Default Starter Issue 2013

My wife has the same issue with her starter. I put a new starter on it and it seemed to have fixed the problem only to have it start doing the same thing only a little while later. Like other post, there is no pattern...Either it do...or it don't. When pushing the button, it sounds like I'm trying to start the car while it is already running. What's up with that? Anyone!...Anyone! thank you the help.

So you hear the starter spinning where it doesn't engage? if so there is a TSB for the starters.

TSB means you need to complain at honda dealer and they will replace it/correct this issue. It's not a recall.
