Default Digital scanner for Honda Accord 1998

Hello there; can somebody give some indication if there is a scanner on the market that is compatible with the 3 PIN connector, 16 PIN OBD connector won't work. HONDA dealer has a scanner and software but is for dealers use only? Thanks

It would help if you advise year and trim of your Accord.

There are devices called "hds" (google "honda hds") that claim to be equivalent to Honda HDS. However, I have no experience w/ them and have not seen posts from anyone who has. I'm skeptical.

You can buy some good OBD2 scanners that will investigate most problems, but not all, ABS, or some of the new control systems in later model Accords (2003^).

good luck

Sorry, I thought I had posted the trim, it is a 1998 Honda Accord, 2.3 liter, four cylinder engine built in the USA for the South American market, hence not fitted with a 16 PIN OBD connector but a 3 PIN connector. My local Honda dealer does have a scanner that reads many codes with the 3 PIN connector and I would like to know if there is an equivalent scanner for sale on the market. Thanks for your prompt reply.
