first Honda
My name is Pat & I live in Portland, OR. I just bought my first Honda. A 97 Accord LX. Here is the biggie, it has 244K miles on it. It is unbelvieable how quiet it is for so many miles. I hope it lasts. It is Green with a 5 SPD. I suppose I will have many questions as I get used to my new car.
it should easily last another 200K if your t-belt was done at 180K it will be due at 270K maybe 285K if they used a Honda belt and it was replaced sometime after 1999. T-belt service is what I recomend you do at a DEALER or A SHOP THAT SPECIALISES IN HONDAS. If you do the job yourself use honda parts only. Do you have maint recoerds for the car? If you do not have any indication that the t-belt was done, do it ASAP cause if it breaks, you are looking at some costly engine work

I have to find a good service manual for it.

If you're going to do the timing belt, search the tech forum here for some stories about how to remove the crankshaft pulley...

I was a little nervous about buying a car with 244K but I have heard of Honda's reputation. The thing seems to be very quiet. Only problem is I think I have a radiator leak. I am getting some coolant somewhere by the top, near the cap. I already priced a radiator for about $120. Think I will try the cap first. Thanks for the welcome.
