Default Just got into an '05 Hybrid

Hey all, my name is Alyssa, I just bought a 2005 Accord Hybrid on Friday. Man, aftermarket accessories are not easy to come by for this car! I got a K&N air filter for it, that thankfully doesn't void the warranty. I'm trying to find a set of fog lights for it. I don't have the "cut outs" in my front bumper for the fog lights, so I wanted to know if there were some that would fit into the lower air dam. I haven't been able to locate any online.

But anyhow, I love the car. I went from a 2007 Suzuki XL7 Limited to this car. A lot of people ask why I 'downgraded'. Well, the real answer is, I didn't need all the space in the XL7 & the gas was killing me. I was averaging 16.8 MPG. That roughly set me back $175-$200 a week just in gas. Not to mention the $560 payment I had per month on top of it. So, I'm now saving gas, have a cheaper car payment, cheaper insurance, and I get a nice tax credit at the end of the year for driving a hybrid. Not too shabby if you ask me!

Sounds great! The only thing I have heard recently is that it's very difficult to get the advertised mileage out of those hybrids, it's still MUCH better than your suzuki but from what I've read it's hard to get full economy specs for some reason... Still great cars though! Sounds like you made a wise decision

Thank you sir! Yes indeed. Well, I have been close so far with itto the advertised MPG. The estimated is 28/35. With the air conditioning going full blast & city driving, I have been averaging 27.4mpg. I am taking it on the highway this weekend to go to the shore so I will find out what it gets for the highway.

Well done Alyssa. How you made that deal without being upside down is amazing. Sounds like you used your noggin to me. Good show. There are many sites on maximizing your MPG but the V-6 Hybrid JUST SCREAMS when you stand on it! It would take me some time to settle down and earn the MPG that the car can offer if driven correctly.

Ha, yes, I would deem myself as a good negotiator. I have had quite a few cars & dealt with a lot of dealerships so I guess I'm used to their "game". They gave me my Accord at cost, so it worked out in my benefit.
