Well, I'm one that when I get a used car, unless I can verify the "last time" something was done by paperwork and that....I assume it is due. I then will change/replace/inspect "whatever" at least then you know for sure and have a baseline for the future.

If you are willing to gamble, you can check the milage and "assume" that it was replaced every 80~100K miles and judge from there when the next one is due.

I'll have to remember that line Never heard it put that way but so true.

At some point I might move this to the gen tech section since it seems to be heading that way pretty fast.

The mileage is at 131k, I'll definitely see about replacing the timing belt seeing as it would be close to the second time around replacement.

Yeah, I already have the hood, fenders, and bumper/support/foam insert. A place in Tucson that I buy my parts from had a great deal on all of it so I bought new and only paid about $50 more than a wrecking yard would have sold it to me for.

I'll need to look around on here (hopefully) to see about the other lift point...the one in the front is easily seen but for the life of me I cannot find the rear one...if there is even one there.

At 131K, it has either been recently done or not at all.......def worth looking at. This is hard to descibe over the net.....the belt should either look new or old, as I said hard to really describe. Agian you will be almost right at it....going to be your call.

Trust me, if you don't know already....the crank bolt can be a royal PIA to get loose. After that, just take your time an get everything lined up and you will be fine.

Thanks Poorman212.

I guess it should have said hoist bracket? Not sure what the actual term is, but there have been these brackets on the top of the other motors I've helped take out. Using an engine hoist and chain (with potentially a motor level attached, but I do not own one of those) to lift the motor out of the vehicle.

My mechanical knowledge is not at expert level so bare with me. I've helped remove three motors in the past (just listing relevant experience). One from a 68 GTO (I actually helped completely rebuild that motor) one from a 96 Silverado, and one from a 98 Camry. The only bad part is that I have never been there at the initial removal stage (like taking all of the wiring harness, vacuum lines, and whatever else is non-essential). So I am using a Chilton manual (because I could not find the manual in the DIY area of this forum) to guide me on the initial steps. However my model is at the beginning of the manual (it goes from 96 up to a 2000) and the book does not list anything about the points used to hoist the motor out, at least not on my model year/engine type. looking around the motor I have not found anything resembling a second point...

I'll move this discussion over to another thread for more activity/visibility. I know it isn't supposed to be here.

Default congratulations on the car

Well I hope you have fun fixing it up! I bought my 96 last year for $2500 and so far I have not had to put too much work into it. Over all it is a great car and very reliable. My most recent expense was a new valve cover gasket and a whole new steering rack. She now drives like a charm. She is reaching 183,000 miles so I am guessing that the timing belt will be next. I hope to see pictures soon!!

Try this: https://www.hondaaccordforum.com/for...-manuals-4597/

Be sure to mark things....I've used a sharpie, nail polish, tape with writing....I guess now days most phones are good for taking pictures. That way you can refer back to them for the "how the heck was that one there" moments.....if needed a few of us have almost the same car and can walk you thru it or take pic's for you.

Not sure where you are going to post from here on out but I'm sure I will run across it at some point
