So It's time to buy a commuter car... something that gets better mileage than my S/C 350z.

I've been looking at 2002-2005 accords, and civics of the same years. Budget is about 8k, possibly a rsx type-s.

I was all set on a V-6 automatic accord around 2004, untill i found they have a horrible history of transmission troubles...

Anyone have some input?

Did Honda finally fix the issue? Are they fixing ones with the issue still today (although out of warranty)

Do the I4's have the same issues with their auto tranny?

What model has the V6 and a manual transmission?

Need this car to last 4-5 years of daily commute...

V6 was never offered with manual trans until 2003 or newer.

I've heard conflicting stories about whether/when Honda fixed it, but I don't pay real close attention because I don't like automatics.
