do your gas stations do this?
Dang! I wonder if it is just in my area in CA or all over CA that does that. Any CA people notice this at their local volero? I went past another valero today on the way to the gym. They only charged an extra 7 cents for using ccd....sigh.

Maybe not in Texas? The sign is very clear, it shows two prices...cash and credit.

Anytime you use a card anywhere, the card company is skimming a few percent. It's just a fact of life. If a station is charging say $3.50/gal., they're paying close to 10¢/gal. to the credit card company to offer you the consumer the convenience.
Same thing if you charge a meal, or a pair of shoes, or whatever.
It's the American way.

In certain states you can't legally charge a fee for using credit cards vs. cash (per Visa's laws) however, there's a few places that have found a way around that, in this case they don't charge a fee per say they just charge more, but 3% more is insane, that means they're processing at about 3% when in reality visa, mastercard and discover are all at about an average of 2% right now (for fee's). Granted all of this is based on transaction volume and how much they process a month....
