Honda Accord tied with Toyota Camry for number 1
imo toyota is about equal to honda as far as reliability is concerned. More stuff has broken on my honda than our toyota, and although the toyota is newer it also has more miles on it. Although the engine was rebuilt once on the toyota, thats because my mom is an idiot and never got her oil changes on time until sludge built up and made the engine crap out. Other than that, the repair costs for the honda have been way more than toyota.

That was something else I was going to question, but I figured that I'd leave that one alone ...... otherwise I might have to suggest the fix of the day for it.
FORD=Fix or Repair Daily!!!!

I was wondering about the reliability of the fusion as well. It just doesnt seem that these ratings mean a whole heck of a lot with so much data missing.
That is an excellent site! The page is easy to browse thru and not too buys - the ratings are easy to understand and each section (reliabiltity, performanc, ect) have a full page explanation behind it as opposed to just a number. Its now in my Favorites for future reference. Kudos!
As for my opinion on the Accord vs Camry, I really like the looks of the Camry and while I think the new Accord looks better than the previous generations, I give a slight edge to the Camry.
That being said, my price range is usually the mid level 4 cylinder models and since I love to drive, I love a manual transmission and the Camry does not offer a manual at all (at least as far as I know) and this gives the edge to the Honda IMO.
Another ding to the Camry is the fit and finish. When I sat in a Camry the interior panels just didnt look like they fit as well as they did in the Honda. The car had an overall "tight" and "qualtity" feel to it but the Honda just seemed to have more.

Even when you read the methodology of their findings, it still is very very vague. At least with consumer reports they tell you how they came to their reliability conclusions.

I agree that safety and reliability are probably the main concerns anyone buying an affordable midsize car might have. We are working on getting those scores up for the 2008 model. For now you can still see those ratings for the 2007 model here:

I would prefer an 08 accord vs the camry... performance wise i think the accord takes it..ive driven both toyota and honda, and it seems honda just has the quickest accelaration...vtec is a major factor also (performance wise)
Hmmm well if i was in the market for a 08 car id buy the Accord cuz i like its looks better..Has that Acura RL look which i think the RL is dead sexy...and i had my chance to drive my Bosses 06 RL..I dont care for the Camry's grille at all..As a 1991 Accord owner 'Now' i drove a 93 Camry but it 'looked old' and even had less mileage then my Accord... 197k (Camry) on it and my Accord had 273k but it has like 11k on New motor...Also i love my Accord its soo spunky and sporty...Honda has my full attention now, i was once a Honda 'Hater' but im feeling kinda foolish now cuz im in love with my car its fun to drive again
Good to hear! Yeah, I think Honda's design is one of the best out there. I really like Nissan's design as well. If you have to compare the two, the Accord wins in performance in my opinion. I have always felt acceleration come on a lot stronger in a Accord.
Almost 158,000 miles on my 99!
