I have an older Alpine with the add on iPod adapter and it has never done anything odd with any iPod connected to it. Try having your friend restore her iPod with the latest software. WARNING: It will erase everything on the iPod and copy over whatever is in her iTunes library now.

wow...A girl would think that.

There is no way that could happen. If the cord made her ipod freeze up then so should a pair of headphones.

IF, and a big IF by chance it was the stereos fault, it must have reversed the voltage and sent a spike of it through her ipod. Most likely it wouldnt work @ all though.

i think hes talking about the kind that plug into the "charging" data port at the bottom of the ipod, and thus you can control the ipod via the head unit.

Does it plug into the headphone jack, or the data port?

Is there a smell accompined with the sound? Sounds like something to do with the power or what not. I would just take it to where you bought it and let them know. Sounds like they screwed it up. Idk though.

I know it sounds funny, but smell the port before you plug it in, and then after having it plugged in for awhile unplug it and smell it right after. Smell the same or different?
